WFW – Set Me Free!

Posted in Christian Life

Munchkin in old Prison Cell
Munchkin was happy to be released from this old prison cell.

Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness. For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.~Romans 6:18-21

Bird stuck in feeder
The bird trapped in our bird feeder was grateful to be set free.

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.~Romans 6:22-23

Just as Munchkin and the bird were happy to be set free from their temporary prisons, I am grateful that Christ set us free from the prison of sin.  Does that mean that we’ll never sin again?  No, but it does mean that we, as Christians, are no longer in bondage to sin.  The shackles have been broken, the chains have been removed, and the prison doors have been swung wide open.

I really enjoyed this reminder that we are free in and through our Heavenly Father and the chains are not meant to be picked up again and again; Our Father has set us free and we are to grow and live in and through Him. Great WFW.
