Reco Romertopf Mini Bakers Review and Giveaway

Posted in Reviews

I decided that I should start off the new year with a great giveaway (details at end of this post).  I told you a little about this giveaway here, but due to the holidays, the giveaway was a little delayed.

I was excited to try out the Reco Romertopf Companion Pieces Mini Bakers (set of 4).  This line of clay bakers claims that your bread will rise higher and produce a crispier crust.  I was interested to see if this was true even with gluten free bread.  Thankfully, my order from cookware.com came quickly and without any issues.  (Unfortunately, it came right before Christmas, so I had to delay trying them out. lol!)

While I mixed up my bread dough, I allowed the mini clay bakers to soak in water, as instructed.  This enables the bakers to create air moisture in the oven while the bread bakes.  Since the gluten free bread dough did not need to go through the whole rising process, I placed the bakers in the cold oven and set the temperature to 425.  After 15 minutes, I decreased the temperature to 350 and baked the bread for 20 more minutes.

My end result was this:

We enjoyed a nice gluten free bread with a crisp outside and soft, chewy inside.  The flavor was different than when I had baked these with a baguette pan.  The bread was simply delicious and perfect for sandwiches for our lunch.

These bakers can be used for many other things including mini meatloafs, pound cakes, monkey bread, and much more.

The Reco Romertopf Mini Bakers (set of 4) are available through cookware.com for $19.99.

I would be interest in trying these. Where I originally hail from clay cooking is traditional but I haven't actually tried it myself. I really like silicone pans, for the ease of taking baked goods out of the pans, but I am intrigued by the promise of a crustier exterior with these.

These look great! I had no idea they came in this smaller version. My favourite item is my new Cuisinart Griddler. It helps me cook a fat-free nutritious dinner VERY quickly and I love how easy it is to clean.
